Dr. Dorman  was born in San Diego, California. He graduated from Helix High School, La Mesa, California in 1957.  He Completed his undergraduate education at San Diego State University in 1962.  He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, Kentucky in 1966.

Following an internship at the University of California at San Diego, He volunteered for service in the United States Navy and trained at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida where he was designated a Naval Flight Surgeon.  He served a combat tour in Vietnam with CVSG 55 and Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron HS-4 aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown.  He also served as the flight surgeon for Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1 (HC-1).  He remained in the Naval Reserve until 1992.

Upon release from active duty Dr. Dorman completed a year of surgery residency at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California.  He then started a practice in family medicine and became the director of the Emergency Department at Goleta Valley Community Hospital.  Dr. Dorman then developed the Paramedic Program in Santa Barbara County which was the third county in the State of California to have operational paramedics.  He continued to be involved with pre-hospital care and emergency medicine serving as Chairman of the Santa Barbara County Emergency Medical Services Committee for 10 years, Director of the Emergency Department at St. Francis Hospital,  and advisor and medical director for Mobile Life Support, a California based ambulance provider.

Dr. Dorman became interested in anti-aging or age management medicine following 25 years of emergency medicine and started the Test America Medical Clinic in Santa Barbara, California.  This clinic specializes in anti-aging medicine which includes hormone balancing, weight management, disease prevention and cosmetic medicine.
